Bruce Darl Hansen, our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away April 14, 2017 surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of his home in Holladay, UT. Bruce was born in East Millcreek, UT on April 11, 1953 to Darl Clement Hansen (father) and Wilma Keller Hansen (mother).
Bruce graduated from Skyline High School and served an LDS mission in Scotland. After returning from his mission, he married Michelle Margetts Hansen and raised five children together, Phillip, Heather, Aaron, Kelly, and Marc. Bruce built a successful residential and commercial lighting business, which he ran for 42 years. Bruce will be remembered for his love of exploring the Utah outdoors, long motorcycle rides, good music, cooking, hot sauce, gathering family and friends together, and lots of teasing and jokes. He will also be remembered for his never ending search for truth, his quest for spiritual awareness, his love of books and learning, and his kindness. Bruce loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and close friends.
Bruce is preceded in death by both his parents and his older brother, Greg Hansen. He is survived by his sister, Christi (Morris) Tanner, his five children, Phillip (Mauri), Heather (John), Aaron (Krista), Kelly (Melissa), and Marc, 13 grandchildren, and many friends and extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 22 at The Garden Place Building at This is the Place Heritage Park, 2601 East Sunnyside Ave SLC, Utah 84108. The viewing will be held from 10 - noon. As requested by Bruce, some of his favorite foods will be served in conjunction with the viewing in a life celebration banquet event. The memorial service will begin at noon following the viewing/celebration. Bruce will be laid to rest at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Weather permitting, please ride your motorcycle in Bruce's honor and join us in a memorial ride in the procession from This is the Place Heritage Park to Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Bruce, you are deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
