Born May 12, 1923 in Garfield, Utah, to Arthur and Neta Laub, the oldest of four children. Raised in Salt Lake City; graduated from South High School.
Blaine married the love of his life, Betty Mae Nebeker, April 29, 1943, in the Salt Lake Temple.
He fought bravely with the U.S. Army 90th Infantry Division at Utah Beach during the landing at Normandy in World War II.
Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the various priesthood quorums, as stake missionary, assistant scout master, and in many other capacities.
Blaine sold for Farmers Insurance for 52 years, frequently as top agent in the company.
He will be remembered for his work ethic, integrity, friendship and expressions of gratitude.
His greatest joy was his family. He loved to fish, play softball and volleyball, ski and travel with family, work in his yard, and spend time with the family at his cabin.
He is survived by eight children and spouses, Susan and Dan Kooyman, Garth and Sharon Hall, Peter and Deborah Laub, Jeff and Shawna Rees, Kevin and Marianne Laub, Chris and Sharon Laub, David and Rosemary Schmertz, Chris and Deanna Howells; sister, Pat Newman; 44 grandchildren and 95 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; his eternal companion of 60 years, Betty Mae; brother, Richard Laub; sister, Sandra Keller and great-grandson Daniel R. Kooyman III.
Heartfelt thanks to the many helping hands at Sunrise Assisted Living Center, Rebecca Goldsmith and other doctors and nurses at the VA Hospital.
Funeral will be held Fri. October 22, 2010 11 a.m. at Salt Lake Olympus Stake Center, 2675 E. 4430 S. Salt Lake City, UT. Friends may call Thurs. 6-8 p.m. Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3401 S. Highland Dr. and Fri. 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment at Bountiful City Cemetery, 2020 S. 200 W.
