Our beloved and cherished dad, husband, and friend passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday surrounded by his loving family. He was an amazing, outgoing man who loved life to the fullest, made friends with everyone he met, and was always available to help anyone in their time of need. Wherever we went dad always ran into someone he knew by name. Bill was the third child born to Verdi and Mary Breinholt. He grew up in Salt Lake City, and his gingerred hair, beautiful blue eyes, and bright smile would light up any room he happened to stroll into. He was an Eagle Scout and graduated from East High School in June of 1953. Bill married Shauna Kilpatrick, the love of his life, in February of 1954. Together they raised four rambunctious sons; Ben, Mark, Tracy, and Daron.
Bill loved the outdoors, was an excellent golfer, and could always be found skiing the slopes of Alta, Snowbird, or Deer Valley. In fact we were skiing together as a family when we nicknamed our dad “Wild Willie”. He had an inner strength and confidence to accomplish anything he put his mind to. He was always there to praise, love, encourage, lighten up the mood with a joke, or wipe a tear and give a hug. He was our leader, mentor, inspiration, friend, and, best of all, the most incredible dad a son could ever imagine.
Bill is survived by his wife Shauna, sons Ben (Carol), Tracy (Debbie), and Daron (Kenna), sister Madelyn, brother Kenny, and dog Macie. He also has eight
grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Special thanks to our care team at Cornerstone Hospice, to the aides and staff at Cedarwood of Sandy Assisted Living, and to everyone at the IMC Jon and Karen Huntsman Cancer Center in Murray. Our family especially thanks our loving and caring Nurse Meggan for being our Angel on Earth.
Memorial services will be held celebrating Bill’s life at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Dr. on Thursday, May 26 at 11:00 AM. Everyone is also welcome to Bill’s viewing on Wednesday, May 25 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers we request that donations be made to the Intermountain Research and Medical Foundation in the memory of Bill Breinholt to cancer research at 5171 South Cottonwood Street, Murray, UT 84175 or call 8015072040.
