Barbara Joyce Holt McVey, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on April 27th, 2022 in Taylorsville Utah at the age of 82. She was surrounded by loved ones in the home of her dear family. Barbara was born on October 19th, 1939 in Salt Lake City Utah to parents John Henry Holt and Lucille Barnes. She grew up in the Salt Lake valley, graduating from Granite High School. She was raised alongside her two sisters, Pat and Betty. Barbara married Marvin O McVey on September 16th, 1957 in Salt Lake City. They had the pleasure of raising four children together.
Barbara was steadfast in her Christian beliefs and showed kindness whenever the opportunity presented itself. Barbara was a very kind person, she was very selfless and always put others first. Regardless of what she had going on in her life or how she felt, her thoughts were on others. She enjoyed baking goodies for friends, family and neighbors so much so that her children didn’t know you could buy goodies at the store. She also enjoyed going dancing, watching movies, playing Yahtzee with her family, and playing slots in Wendover. Barbara also loved to travel and take pictures of the places she went and the people she loved. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren so much so that she boasted about their accomplishments to all. She was able to make friends very easily wherever she went. She was a very hard worker, working until she was 81 years old. Barbara sacrificed a multitude of things for her family and loved them all very much. We want to give a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and caregivers who took special care of our mother. She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lucille, and her sister, Betty. She is survived by her sister Pat, four children: Richard, Susan, Lisa (Kelly), and Steve (Ann), seven grandchildren: Jeremie, Jonathan, Theodore, Nick, Cory, Megan, and Matt, and two great-grandchildren Candice and Wesley.
