Our beloved mother, grandmother, wife and sister, Anna Marie Lhotan Freeman, died April 2, 2013 at the age of 87. Ann was born May 31, 1925 to Oldrich and Anna Chmela Lhotan in Bloomfield Township, Michigan. She married Carroll Freeman on September 16, 1944 in Montgomery, Alabama. They have two daughters, Annjanine and Gigi.
Ann loved her family more than anything, especially her grandchildren. They were the light of her life. She rarely missed a school program, sporting event or dance concert. She was a huge sports fan. Ann was a loyal University of Utah football fan and looked forward to watching Ute home games from her 50 yard-line seats. She loved attending the weekly Women’s Football Class at the U for 16 years, particularly during the Ron McBride years. Ann also loved her dogs, gardening, even the bunnies that ate her flowers. During WWII, she was a “Rosie the Riveter”, proudly serving as an aircraft engineer. She enjoyed traveling, especially her adventures in Europe. Ann was a woman of deep faith, which sustained her during hard times. She cared tirelessly for her husband, while he was still living at home. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Ann is survived by her husband Carroll, Annjanine “AJ” and Tom Etzel, their children Daniel Livsey, Christine Livsey, Andrew Etzel; Gigi N. and Rob Daniels and her brother Jim Lhotan.
