1920 ~ 2010
Alving Andersen, our father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2010 from cause’s incident to age. He was born on February 29, 1920 to Anders Peter and Laura Andersen in the land of Denmark. His youth was spent on the farm where he learned to love agriculture and animals. He met his sweetheart, Grethe Hansen, while serving an LDS mission in Denmark. They were later married in Esbjerg, Denmark June 7, 1947, and then immigrated to the United States after World War Two. They later solemnized their marriage at the Idaho Falls Temple on November 26, 1948. Alving was a skilled contractor specializing in plastering and drywall. He instilled in his children a love for doing things well and not shirking from hard work. He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and fulfilled a variety of callings. Both Alving and Grethe cherished their four children Susan (Jens) Hansen, Omar (Lisa) Andersen, Morgan (Tina) Andersen and Robin (Debbie) Andersen, 25 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. They both believed and fully understood that one of life's greatest blessings is family. Alving also had a great love for his country and volunteered for a several years with the Salt Lake Police as an auxiliary police officer. He was an avid student of the world and its various cultures. Much of his free time was spent learning languages and improving his mind. It was a lifelong passion. Alving taught by example to be true to one's beliefs and standards. Though he was a quiet man, he was ever willing to share his convictions and beliefs with those around him. We have been blessed to be part of his life and we know that his life beyond this veil is fulfilling and unfolding new adventures.
The Family would like to thank the care providers at Sandy Regional for their caring and unselfish service.
