Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Stuart Wilson Whitehurst, Sr. and Marie Whitehurst. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Sally; his three children and their spouses, Ann Cottrell (Chris) of Raleigh, NC, Molly First (Michael) of Atlanta, GA, and Davis Whitehurst (Amy) of Glen Allen, VA; and his seven grandchildren, Morgan Cottrell Daigle (Michael), Matthew Cottrell, Tyler First, Jackson First, Sydney Robertson, Quinn Whitehurst, and Arabella Whitehurst. Bob is also survived by his brother Stuart Whitehurst of Richmond, VA.
Bob was born on July 31, 1939 in Richmond, Virginia. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School and The University of Richmond, where he received a Business degree in Economics. Bob was Vice-President of Whitehurst Paving and Transport Company and later became President of Peterbilt of Richmond. He was an active member of his church and participated in the Kiwanis Club and countless other volunteer organizations. He found great joy in giving historic tours with the Virginia Museum of History and Culture where he was able to share his love of his favorite city. Bob enjoyed wood-working, fishing, and spending time at the family home on the Chesapeake Bay. As a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity at the University of Richmond, he continued to maintain life-long friendships with his fraternity brothers. Bob will be missed by his family and countless friends.
