HEINZ, Dr. Robert Alfred, 68, of Midlothian, passed away Wednesday. He came into this world on April 22, 1943, born to proud parents, Alfred and Hildegard Heinz. Bob met his devoted wife, Eleanor, during his studies at Lehigh University. They committed their lives to each other in 1967. Bob furthered his education at Carnegie Mellon University and received his doctoral degree in Engineering in 1971. In 1978, Bob, his wife and kids, moved to Midlothian, Virginia where he started his career in manufacturing before focusing his later career efforts in engineering and business education at Virginia Commonwealth University. At the height of his career, Bob proudly served as the dean at J. Sargeant Reynolds School of Business and Engineering. Bob is survived by three loving children, Laura, Kristin and Eric; as well as three grandchildren, Alex, Seth and Liam. Bob enjoyed volunteering his free time to his church, many local organizations and more recently his grandchildren's sports activities.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., on Sunday, October 2, at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 2341 Winterfield Road, Midlothian, Virginia 23113. Interment private.
