Obituary of Nancy Lorraine Bradford
Nancy Lorraine Bradford, our beloved mother, passed into the arms of the Lord on October 29, 2015, surrounded by her family in Midlothian, Virginia, at the age of 86. Nancy was born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 12, 1929. She is survived by her loving children, her son William and his wife Kismet, of Culpeper, Virginia; two daughters, Denise Bradford-Amrhein and her husband, Keith of Midlothian, and Carol DeVarney and her husband, Craig of Essex Junction, Vermont; her dear sister, Patricia Parker, of New Bern, North Carolina, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Alexis (Bradford) Cavada and her husband, Joey Cavada, Bobby and Michael Bradford; Lauren Amrhein and her fiancé, Braden Pan, Christopher Amrhein and his fiancé, Courtney Vaughn; Michelle (DeVarney) Murrish and her husband, David Murrish, Adam and Scott DeVarney; and four great- grandchildren, Mason Bradford Cavada, Bradford William Amrhein, Finn Hakkoda Murrish, and Lyra Margaret Murrish. Nancy was predeceased by her loving husband, William T. Bradford Sr. in November 2010; her sisters, Betty and Barbara, and her brothers, Ernest, Thomas and Ronald. Nancy married William T. Bradford Sr. on June 21, 1951 in Boston, Massachusetts. They moved to Burlington, Vermont and raised their three children there. Nancy started her secretarial career at Liberty Mutual in Boston, after graduating from Bryant and Stratton. She worked as a medical transcriptionist in the Otolaryngology Department at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington for 15 years. Upon retirement, Nancy and William moved to North Port, Florida where they lived for 15 years. They loved making new friends, living near the ocean, and going on cruises. In 2010, Nancy moved to Midlothian, Virginia to be with her family. She enjoyed playing the piano, with her family singing along. Her many hobbies included bowling and Wii bowling, crosswords, Scrabble, watching Wheel of Fortune, cross-stitching, and sewing beautiful clothing and keepsake quilts for her family. Nancy loved spending time with her children and their families. She was very quick-witted and loved a good joke. She was sweet, kind, and caring and she will live forever in our hearts. A funeral service will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Midlothian, Virginia on Saturday, November 14, 2015.She will be interred next to her husband, William, at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia in the spring of 2016. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
