Mary Ann was born on August 9th, 1937 in Long Branch NJ in Monmouth county to Lester E. and Mary Louise Sherman. At first they lived on the Sherman family farm in Cherry Hill, NJ.
During WWII Mary Ann moved to Newport News, Virginia where she remained throughout her high school years. Mary Ann went to the college, William and Mary. After two years, Mary Ann met the love of her life, Walter, and they were married on Saturday, July 26th, 1957 at Trinity Methodist church in Newport News. Mary Ann lived in the Margaretville NY area until moving to Richmond in 2000. Mary Ann and Walter had two children, Sarah (David Flowers) and Robert, whom Mary Ann leaves behind along with two grandchildren, Jillian C. Flowers and James W. Flowers. Mary Ann has cousins in the Richmond and Hampton Roads area. She also leaves behind her dog, Ginger. Mary Ann was very involved in her church, Bon Air Presbyterian, and was a long standing member of the DAR and did knitting for Have a Heart.

A memorial will be held on Wednesday, February 2 at 2pm at Bon Air Presbyterian Church.
