He is preceded in death by Luis Angel Segarra Sr. and Rosalina Rivera Toro.
He is survived by Maria M. Segarra, his wife of 59 years, his son Louis Angel Segarra Ill, his daughter Thais Tamara Jensen and her husband John A Jensen, his grandchildren, Hannah A. Jensen, Anders 0. Jensen and Corbin C. Jensen, his sisters, Elizabeth Velez and her husband Oscar Velez, Dr. Mary Segarra and her daughter Raquel Fleetwood, and Helen Quinones- Capella and her husband Orlando Capella and her children Angel Guzman and Alexis Guzman.
Louis was born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico in 1944. As a child he moved to New York City where he graduated from Samuel Gompers Technical High School in 1962. After working for the United States Post Office, he began a career in construction joining local #66 of the Pointing, Cleaning and Caulking Union working mainly in New York and the east coast of the United States. He later went on to work with the New York Department of Corrections where he retired in 2005.
Louis enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life including art, baseball, Karate, fishing, hunting and the outdoors. He spent his retirement years doing many projects around the house, but his pride and joy was his grandchildren. He was always there for his grandchildren whether on vacations, taking them on day trips, at sports or school events and was known as Papa to his grandchildren and their friends.
He was a very outgoing person who made friends wherever he went. He touched many people in his life and will be missed by all.
