Lawrence (Larry) Eugene Nelson died on October 3, 2018. Larry was born on February 2, 1946 in Newark, NJ to Eileen (Scully) Nelson and Edward Nelson. He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Bev) and his daughter, Wendi (Jason) Powell, as well as his granddaughter, Hayley Powell. Predeceasing Larry are both of his parents, his brothers, Paul and Edward, as well as his daughter, Teri.
Larry graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from Newark College of Engineering in Newark, New Jersey in 1968 and spent his career with DuPont Company, retiring in 2002.
Larry was a man of many talents and interests: woodworking, painting, music, house renovations of any sort – brick laying, electrical work, etc. He was an avid reader of history of all periods.
He was a long-time reader member of St. Edward Catholic Church as well as a longtime volunteer as Bainbridge Community Ministry. Larry was extremely generous with his time, his talents, and his money when it came to helping support those less fortunate. Larry’s sense of humor, his love for and loyalty to his friends and family will be sorely missed.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 9th at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, from 6-8 PM. A celebration of life will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 10th at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Dale Memorial Park at 2:30 PM.
