Kelly Dunkum Higgs

Kelly Dunkum Higgs passed from this life to her heavenly home on December 12, 2022. She was born on October 3, 1962 to parents, James Ellis and Dorothy Mann Dunkum of Chester, VA.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 10 years, John Allen Higgs, of Midlothian, VA; her son, Shelton (Amy) Lyda of Garner, NC; her daughter, Sarah Lyda of Richmond, VA; her siblings, Jim (Sandi) Dunkum, Crystal Regnery, all of Richmond, VA and Eric (Tammy) Dunkum of Chester, VA; her brother-in-law, Chad (Caroline) Higgs of Oxford, NC. Her nieces and nephews include Austin (Brandon) Traylor, Delton Dunkum, Cameron Regnery, Jed Dunkum, Colin Regnery, Kate Dunkum, Andrew Higgs and Cole Higgs.
Her greatest joys were her grandsons, Dean and Wells Lyda and her honorary granddaughter Dylan Hixson.
A graduate of Longwood College, she worked at McCandlish Holton for 27 years. Kelly was an active member of Cloverhill Church for 13 years in which she was part of a bible study/prayer group she cherished. She was a part of the Richmond Emmaus Community and Epiphany Prison Ministries in which she served in countless leadership roles and served the Lord. Her priority in life was to serve and make sure that everyone else was taken care of before herself. She offered love, support and helping hands to anyone who crossed her path. Countless family and friends’ lives have been heavily impacted for the better having known Kelly.
A memorial service will be held on December 19, 2022 at 11 am at Cloverhill Church, 12310 Bailey Bridge Rd., Midlothian, VA 23112 and officiated by Pastor Stan Grant and all are welcome. Family visitation to follow after the service.
Kelly was cremated and will be buried at a later date.
