John Eugene Martin Jr.

MARTIN, John E. Jr., of Chesterfield, died Sunday, December 19, 2010. He was the son of the late John E. and Sarah E. Martin. He was also preceded in death by his children, John Philip and Sarah Elizabeth; four brothers and four sisters. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Hudson Martin; children, Merry Dawn Donati (John), Susan Baisden (Steve) and Samuel A. Martin; grandchildren, John Donati III (Michelle), Lori Donati Hawkins (Brandon), Jamie Donati, Samuel Martin Jr. and Chanse Brock; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Bernice J. Reynolds; and nieces and nephews, Hiram Johnson, Charles and Robert Reynolds, Harry Hawley, Bill Martin, Jean Wyndham and Margaret Sanders and their families. John was proud to be an Eagle Scout, a copy boy for the Associated Press and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. After his service in the Navy, he worked for the American Red Cross, and later managed several service stations in the Richmond area.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at First Congregational Church, UCC, 4310 Courthouse Road, Chesterfield, Va. The family will receive guests at the church in the Fellowship Hall beginning at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to First Congregational Church, UCC.
