She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer King Sherman and son-in-law, Matthew Sherman; two grandchildren, Declan and Ronan Sherman; the love of her life, Gary King; siblings, Linda Vaughan (Ronnie), and Sonny Liptrap; nieces, Stephanie Guajardo (Abel) and Yvonne Cooper (Jeff); nephews, Wayne Vaughan (Debbie), Corey Nester (Lauren); great-nieces, Kelsey, Katie and Marissa; great-nephews, Caleb (Jenny), Micah, Sean and Reid; all of her devoted friends at the Atlantic at Charter Colony; and a host of extended family and friends who will all miss her dearly.
She was born and raised in Richmond to the late John and Elaine Liptrap. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1965, after which she worked for Richmond Truck Enterprises for many years. She was a member of Grace Brethren for many years, where she served as youth minister, making lifelong friends. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, camping, playing cards,and traveling, once braving the trip across the Atlantic to visit her daughter while she was living in Ireland. She enjoyed trips to her family homestead and always stayed close to her roots in Bath Co. Va. But most of all, she enjoyed being with her family, playing games with her grandchildren, and spending time with friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, October 21 at Community of Grace Church, 2240 Cranbeck Rd, Richmond, VA 23235.
