James William Matthews

James William Matthews passed away peacefully on May 2, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elise Thompson Matthews and James Edward Matthews Jr. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Bonnie Greame Matthews; daughter Jamie Hamric (Nathan); grandchildren Stella and Owen; brother Warren Matthews (Faye); sister Patricia Bagley; nephew David Matthews (Abby) and a host of beloved family and friends. After retiring from the State of Virginia, Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, restoring antique cars, and working in his yard. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Woody Funeral Home – Huguenot Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society, cancer.org.
