His parents, James W. & Ruth Weaver Combs, preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his wife of 51 years, Shirley Porter Combs, his sons Ronald G. Combs, C. Randy (Capreece) Combs. Two daughters Julia (Jim) Griffith, and Lisa (Tim) Adams. His 7 grandchildren, Melissa (Bill) Stanton, Steven (Tonya) Combs, Tabitha Russell, Cassidy Combs, Nathan and Joshua Adams and Joshua Griffith. 3 Great Grandchildren: Zachary Curry, Adelyn Russell and Rylee Combs and # 4 on the way. One sister, Sarah Graham, and several nieces and a nephew. We would also like to thank his loving Caregivers ”Donna & Jiggs Gordan, and LaChel, Shenida, Christine, Brandy, Jennifer and those who took good care of him. He loved all his “Sweeties”, as he called them. Thank you to his drivers at Powhatan CAP-UP, Jerry, Stom and Vickie and Mike at the County Seat. Jimmy was the owner of “Combs Auto & Truck Sales” in Richmond and Powhatan for over 45 years. He was a member of Old Powhatan Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee, Chairman of the Deacon Board, Deacon, and Sunday School Superintendent. He served in many capacities around Church. He supported two Home Missionaries in Dateland, Arizona, Jim & Cathy Ward.
Jimmy was a longtime member of the Early Ford V-8 Club in Richmond, VA. He loved his antique cars and spent many miles on the road looking for them. Jimmy loved to travel. He took his family and friends all over the US, Canada and Hawaii. He never met a stranger and he was a friend to everyone. He will be greatly missed.
Family will receive friends and family at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, on Friday, April 8, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 9, at 2 pm, at Woody Funeral Home with graveside to follow at Old Powhatan Baptist Church and a reception will follow.
