Hilda Bristow Hogge

She was the daughter of the late Frank and Mattie Bristow. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, James "Jimmy" Hogge Sr.; and her five brothers and three sisters.

Hilda was born and raised in Shacklefords, Virginia. She was a star athlete on her high school softball team, and class treasurer. She met Jimmy at a church hayride in 1948, the two were married on Christmas Day in 1953. She retired from NationsBank with over 40 years of service.

Hilda was a devoted, loving, supportive mother, mother-in-law, grandma and great-grandma. She loved birds and gardening, but most of all, she loved her family.

She is survived by her son, James David Hogge, Jr., and his wife Michele; grandchildren, Brandon Baird and his wife Jennifer, Bryant Baird and his wife, Karen, Sean Hogge, Cory Hogge and his wife, Sadie; and great-grandchildren, Chase, Kaylee, Owen, Emma and Averly Baird; her sisters, Vernell Salyer, Dorothy Bohannon; and brother, Clarence Bristow.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 31 from 11am - Noon at Woody Funeral Home - Huguenot Chapel. A funeral service will begin at Noon. Interment will be held at 10am on Thursday, February 1 at Dale Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, or your local EMS.
