CHEATHAM, Guy Milton, Jr., 84, of Midlothian, passed away peacefully Friday, August 26, 2011. He was a lifelong resident of Chesterfield County. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Marjorie Adams Cheatham; his sons, G. Michael Cheatham (Susan) of Midlothian, Keith D. Cheatham (Vivian) of Richmond and John M. Cheatham of Los Angeles, Calif.; his daughter-in-law, Jessica P. Cheatham of West Palm Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Leah, Guy, Glenn, C.K. and Hunter; and one great-grandson, Seth. His love and caring will be missed by them. Likewise, by Marjorie's daughters, Gaye Adams, Faye Gaskins, Kaye Packett and Denise Kern and their families; and two brothers-in-law, Raymond Adams of Blackstone and Robert Adams of Chesterfield. Mr. Cheatham was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Mary Louise Davis; his son, Kevin M. Cheatham; and sister, Lucille C. Moseley.
He was a graduate of Midlothian High School. His education at V.P.I. was interrupted by two years in the U.S. Navy, 1944-46, after which he returned to V.P.I. and graduated in 1949. He spent most of his working career with Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Co. in various sales capacities retiring after 32 years as Director of Sales. He was a member of Willow Oaks Country Club, a founding member of Tomahawk Ruritan Club, a past member of Midlothian Ruritan Club and American Legion Post 186. He was a member at Tomahawk Baptist Church and an associate member at Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday (today) at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road. Burial will be private. A memorial service will be held 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church followed by a reception in the Christian Life Center.
