HOGAN, Gerald Arnold "Jerry," of N. Chesterfield, passed away March 12, 2016. He was born in Austin, Minn. and moved to RIchmond during childhood. He was a graduate of Manchester High School, Class of 1955. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty George Hogan; parents, Arnold and Geneva Paulson Hogan; sister, Arlene H. Flavin; and brother-in-law, Joe Flavin. Surviving are daughters, Brenda H. Staehle (George) and Melissa H. Bullard (Rob); grandchildren, Sarabeth Wise (Brandon), Dana Barefoot (Andrew), Jacob Bullard and Nicholas Bullard; great-grandchildren, Carson and Elijah Barefoot and Mary Rose Wise.
He was retired from AT&T and worked for both Richmond Alarm Company and Dominion Aviation Services, Inc. He had a passion for flying from his youth. At the age of 16, he became the youngest pilot in Richmond. He served in the Virginia Air National Guard and enjoyed flying with Wingnuts Flying Club. He was active in Weatherford Memorial Baptist Church and New Vision Baptist Church, serving in many areas. The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the staff at Spring Arbor Salisbury along with At Home Hospice for the excellent care given to our entire family the last year. And also to Southerland Place for care given previously.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 18, at The Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016. Interment Dale Memorial Park. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Bishop Ireton Center.
