Esten Hollis Shomo
June 23, 1926 – August 26, 2016

SHOMO, Esten Hollis, of Midlothian, Va., went to be with our Lord on Friday, August 26, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, S. Hollis and Helen B. Shomo, and his sister, Helen Shomo Forcke. He is survived by his nieces, Patricia F. (Robert) Jennings, Hollis P. Spott (Michael Horner), Lisa D. Forcke and nephew, Edmund W. (Shelly) Forcke, III. Grandnieces, Jennifer H. (Edward) Gooding, Melissa H. (Michael) Dawson, Ashley M. Forcke, Emily H. Forcke and grandnephew, Brandon L. Spott. He is also survived by one great niece and four great nephews. Esten was a deacon and lifelong member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church. He earned his B.S. Degree from University of Richmond and his M.S. Degree from University of North Carolina. He was a veteran of World War II. His career was spent with the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Health. A private graveside service was held in Harrisonburg, Va. and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, 5200 Grove Avenue, Richmond, Va. 23226. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunrise of Bon Air for the wonderful care they provided for the past 2 1/2 years and At Home Care Hospice for all that they did to make Esten’s last days peaceful.
