Morris, Edward Wayne, 76, of North Chesterfield, VA, (formerly of Manassas, VA) departed this life on March 24th. Wayne is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy, two sons, Wayne Jr. and his wife, Charlotte, and Thomas Earl ("Tee") Morris and his wife, Philippa, three grandchildren, Ashley and Robert Morris and Serena Morris. Wayne was in the steel industry for 53 years, 29 years with Steel Services, Inc., and the past 24 years with BMG Metals, Inc. He was a baseball umpire and basketball referee at the high school and college levels, spending 15 years in the ACC baseball conference and the ODAC basketball association. Wayne also umpired in the American Legion World Series. He also volunteered as a JV basketball coach for Monacan and James River High Schools. Wayne was a member of the Greater Richmond Bowling Association Hall of Fame.
Wayne was a man who loved his family beyond words. He cherished holidays, reunions and time with family members. Wayne never met a stranger and made many friends throughout his life.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 8th, from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at Beulah United Methodist Church, 6930 Hopkins Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23234. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Music Ministry at Beulah United Methodist Church.
