Ed was born on July 7, 1935 in Waynesboro, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Fisher, and his brother, Ray Fisher. He is survived by his daughters, Donna Fisher of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Susan Murdock (Joe) of Midlothian, Virginia and his grandsons Matthew Murdock (Michele Miller) of Dayton, Ohio, Ryan Murdock of Blacksburg, Virginia, Derek Jones of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Dustin Jones of Vail, Colorado.
Ed was also known by the nicknames Eddie, Bo and Rusie. He graduated from Middlesex County High School, Virginia in 1953 where he participated in drama, football, basketball and track and was also Senior Class President.
Ed married Mary, the love of his life, on June 14, 1958 in the gardens of the Swannanoa Estate on top of Afton Mountain. They were married 55 years until her death in 2013.
Ed worked at Waynesboro Nurseries for 53 years. During his time at the Nursery he held many positions ranging from field crewperson, landscaping manager, office manager and salesperson. Customers loved Ed’s honest, low-key approach and knew they could always trust him.
Ed enjoyed playing softball and horseshoes with his many cousins in his younger years. He also enjoyed country music, watching football and gardening. Family was the most important thing in his life.
Ed will best be remembered for his kindness and gentle nature. He could always be counted on to find the best in any situation. He was an exceptional son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, friend, neighbor and employee. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
