Obituary of David Willis Moore
We are sad to announce the death of David “Dave” Willis Moore who passed away at his home on June 3, 2024 after a short illness. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Jacob Moore and Elizabeth Willis Moore; his loving wife, Gail June Moore; and his sister Marianna Elizabeth Moore. He is survived by his brother, Charles Thomas Moore of Fullerton, CA; daughter, Jennifer Moore of Richmond; son, James Moore of Nashville; granddaughter, Stella Rose Moore-Buccola of Richmond; and various cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. He is also survived by his former wife, Betsy Moore, of Richmond. Dave was generous and selfless, always putting the interests of other people ahead of his own. His hobbies and passions were many and varied. He loved all things music--- jazz, bluegrass, rock, classical, jam sessions, concerts, and choral music. He enjoyed fishing on the James River with friends, visiting classic car shows, watching Redskins football, and following professional tennis. Dave’s love for animals since childhood inspired him to obtain a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Georgia. He practiced at Huguenot Veterinary Clinic for over twenty years. He adored cats and dogs. You would often find him with a cat on his lap and/or a dog by his side. He was also passionate about his Christian faith and loved St. Matthias’ Episcopal Church. He was active there in both choirs, Kerygma, Cursillo, the Vestry and the food pantry.
