He had a long and varied career, beginning in western Pennsylvania, where he operated his own excavating and grading business. In 1963, he became a McDonald’s owner-operator in the Baltimore, MD area. After 6 years, he moved to Richmond, VA, where he grew his McDonald’s franchise from 2-6 stores. He was a mentor to many along the way.
He enjoyed flying his airplane, boating, playing his harmonicas and spending time with family and friends. He was a longtime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
His kind and gentle nature could light up the room and warm the heart. His tenacity and determination were an inspiration to all who knew him. His memory will be cherished for his devotion to his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the best “Papa” to many.
