David H. T. Jewett, Jr., a lifelong amateur radio enthusiast, was known to friends world-wide as K4HOT, a call sign that he wore until his death on 12/13/2016. Mr. Jewett was born ninety years ago at Stuart Circle hospital in Richmond, VA, and spent time growing up near the family home in Midlothian. He served proudly as a radio technician in the United States Marine Corp. and went on to study electrical engineering at the University of Virginia where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. A born salesman, Dave was known best to many as the founder and president of Dynamation, Incorporated, a firm that he ran nearly 50 years alongside his beloved wife, Lois, with whom he recently celebrated a 68th anniversary. He was a life member and past president of the Instrument Society of America. An avid boater and fisherman, Mr. Jewett served as a navigator during his time with the United States Power Squadron. He loved nothing more than to join Lois in cutting a rug to a swing beat. His civic duties included membership in the Junior Chamber of Commerce and support for the Boy Scouts of America as well as hosting open classes in ham radio for anyone with an interest.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Jewett is survived by his son, David, his daughter Wythe Shockley and husband Gilbert along with 2 grandchildren, Thomas and Anne Madison, Shockley all of Richmond.
Service will be held at Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church in Midlothian, VA on Tuesday 12/20/16 at 2PM
