DORSEY, Catherine Rose, 21, of Midlothian, passed away on January 25, 2012. She was the daughter of Joan and Jim Dorsey. Catherine graduated from Midlothian High School and attended Virginia Commonwealth University. She joined the Air Force in April 2010 and was stationed at Eielson Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska. She was Aircraft Armament Systems Apprentice working as an F-16 Weapons Load Crew Member. She is remembered for her enjoyment of the theater at Midlothian High and for her love of playing the guitar and creating her own music. In Alaska, Catherine was giving guitar lessons to other service members.
Catherine is survived by four sisters, Diana Dorsey of Midlothian, Stacey Dorsey, Kim Dorsey and Kelly Scanlon all of New York; two brothers, Tom and Jack Dorsey of Midlothian; and brother-in-law, Brendan Scanlon. Other family members include her grandmother, Dorothy Sheehan of New York; aunts and uncles, Gary and Terri Sheehan of Midlothian, Jim and Monica Sheehan of Midlothian, Lawrence and Cathy Sheehan of Delaware, Dan and Faith Dorsey of South Carolina, Jack and Judy Dorsey of California, and Kenny Sheehan, Brendan and Noreen Sheehan, Barbara Sheehan, Marylou Sheehan, Anne and Joe Viscuso, Therese and Pete Lynaugh, Michael and Carolyn Rosetti, and Patty Taylor, all of New York; cousins, Chris, Joey, Kim and Maddie Sheehan, Grace, Emma, Sarah and Abigail Sheehan, Brittany, Peter and Robbie Lynaugh, Danny Sheehan, Joanna Viscuso, Thomasina, Barbara and Natalie Dorsey, Michael and Gina Rosetti, and Autumn and Jennifer Taylor; and nieces and nephews, Kevin and Conner Scanlon and Justin and Kaitlyn Dorsey. She will be loved and missed forever.
Her remains rest at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where the family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Funeral will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, 2700 Dolfield Dr. The family asks that donations be made to the Oaktown Jazz Workshops for underprivileged children through its website at www.oaktownjazz.org.
