PARKER, B. Vernon, 97, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Heritage Green Assisted Living Facility. Born in Petersburg, Va. and raised in Victoria, Va., he was the son of the late Ruby Douglas Parker and Kit Winbush Parker. Mr. Parker was predeceased by three sisters; Eloise Lipscomb, Alise Redmond, Elva Parker and a son-in-law Alton Byrd. Left to cherish his memory is his loving daughter, Jean Byrd Brinkley and husband Robert R. Brinkley, Jr. of Suffolk, Va.; nieces, Pat Breeden and husband, Pecky and Ardelle Florence and husband Billy; nephew, William Redmond and wife Jean; several great nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his many dancing friends at Quarles and the American Legion.
After retiring from the C&O Railroad as a conductor with 33 years of service he enjoyed life to the fullest whether it was dancing at Quarles or the American Legion, watching a football or baseball game on TV or eating at the Golden Corral on Rte. 60.
According to his wishes no services have been planned, but the family will receive friends at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian, Va. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Wednesday, May 13, 2015. Burial will be private.
The family would like to give a big heartfelt thanks to the staff at Heritage Green Assisted Living and Ascend Hospice Nurse, Cathy for the wonderful care he received during the last months of his life.
