Dr. Beverly Jones, 90 of Midlothian, died peacefully in his sleep on September 9, 2011. He was preceded in death by his first wife Carolyn Makela Jones, and his second wife Evelyn Thornhill Jones.
He is survived by his children; Marilyn Downing (Hal), R. Chapin Jones II (Jane), Alison Burleson (Billy), Allan Jones (Debra), eight granddaughters, and one grandson.
Bev was born in Charlottesville. He graduated from UVA at the age of 19 and earned a Masters in Biology. He was an Associate Professor of Biology at U of R until he began medical school. He graduated from MCV in 1949, and became only the 4th full time anesthesiologist practicing in the Richmond area. He was former President of the Richmond Society of Anesthesiologists.
Bev loved gardening and tennis, playing until the age of 80. He also loved riding his bike, which he rode until age 90. Services private. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Brandermill Woods Foundation Inc., 14311 BRANDERMILL WOODS TRL MIDLOTHIAN VA 23112-4124.
