Barbara Rhodes Barker

Barbara Rhodes Barker, age 95, of Chester, Virginia passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023. Born in Danville, VA, Barbara was a Richmond native since 1955. She graduated from Westhampton College and was a math teacher in Henrico County until her retirement. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bridge and many social activities with her friends. Her true passion was tap dancing and her dance career lasted from childhood until her late 80's. She was in many shows and competitions, both regionally and nationally, winning many awards. The highlight of her career was dancing on stage with Gregory Hines in Chicago in 1989. She was a member of Manchester Moose 699 and Chapter 1078 WOTM for over 25 years, pledging her support for children and seniors. She treasured her family and friends and put everyone before herself. She is greatly missed and loved by all who knew her. We know she's "time stepping" in heaven and making sure everyone is on "the beat" and the correct foot. KOT 5-6-7-8. She is survived by her children, Gail Prisel (Dudley) and Guy Barker (Terri); her grandchildren, Kimberly Young (Seth) and Kerry Moran as well as her great grandchildren Paisley, Carly, Colbie, and Everly. Mrs. Barker is preceded in death by her husband William K. Barker "Doc".

The family will receive friends during a Celebration of Life at Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel on Saturday, January 6th from 2-5pm. Women of the Moose will be presenting a ceremony at 3 pm during the Celebration.
