Anne Whitt Baird

Anne Whitt Baird, 96, passed away peacefully in her home on May 24, 2022. She was born in Chesterfield County, Virginia, the daughter of the late David Spencer and Mary Frances Tuck Whitt. She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh Holcombe Baird, Jr.; a sister, Mabel Whitt Davis; and seven brothers, William James, David Otto, Lorenzo Thomas, John Burton Tuck, Richard Reeves, Joseph Asa and Edward Owen Whitt. She is survived by her son, Hugh Holcombe Baird, III (Cynthia); two daughters Mary Baird Line (Lloyd, deceased) and Marsha Anne Baird (Shane Tucker); and two grandsons, Ansel and Olin Tucker. Anne graduated from Manchester High School in 1942, Valedictorian of her class. She graduated from Richmond Business College in 1943 and worked for 15 years as a typist and secretary. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Anne’s greatest joy was spending time with family. She was a loving and consistent presence in the lives of her family members. A warm, compassionate and gracious person, Anne gave freely of her time to assist others. She was an active member of Providence United Methodist Church, serving on several committees.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers who took care of Anne as her health declined. The family will receive friends at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian at 1pm on Saturday, June 11th followed by a funeral service at 2pm and reception after the service. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, Virginia.
