Alice E. Williams (Pookie) was born on October 18, 1964 to the late Robert E. Hockaday and Lucy Y. Dade in the Bronx, New York. She departed this life on Tuesday September 12, 2023. She got her start in this life in the South Bronx, this is where her mother remarried her step father Darryl Dade.
The family then moved to Long Island, New York, where she attended the Uniondale School District. Alice graduated Uniondale High School in 1982, she also attended Nassau Community College. She was always striving in her education, she received her certification as a certified Medical Assistant in 2003 and then moved on to receive her Associate degree of Applied Science in Health Sciences in May 2004. Alice tried different career paths, working as a CNA and Medical Assistant and excelled at both because of her love of taking care of people. Finally she settled on what she had a love and talent for, selling insurance with United Healthcare.
Alice was also a social butterfly and had a host of friends. She joined many school activities like running track and the Booster squad. If there is one thing everyone can agree on is that she had the gift of gab, she could “sell water to a whale”. Alice was always a ball of laughter and could work a room. Most people have had one great love in their lives, Alice proudly had three. That was the love she had for her sons and the love her sons have for her. She was a tough cookie but her soft spot was her boys, nobody could tell her anything about her three babies. Alice dotted and sometimes spoiled them as any loving mother would, she blessed them with charm, winning smiles and great wit and intelligence. She will truly be missed by family and friends.
She leaves behind to remember and cherish her memories, her three sons, Brian J Hockaday, Randolph A. Williams (Denesha), Brandon J. Hockaday. She also leaves her mother Lucy Y. Dade and step father Darryl Dade, step mother Linda Dade. Also siblings Kirby Hockaday, Ronnet Faison, Cynthia Hockaday, Cindy Hinsley, Catina Cotterell, Shannon Dade; a host of aunts and uncles and cousins. We have to mention her favorite uncle James Jones Jr. and aunt Maudeena, they had a relationship that exceeds words. Also friends that will cherish her memories.
