Winnie Hill

Winnie was born in Conway, Arkansas on February 28,1939. Winnie is preceded in death by her parents, Rollin and Lenny Powell; Her sisters Yvonne Tucker, Susie Nash, and Betty Hartfield and her brother James Powell, Her grandson JIP and her loving husband of 48 years Roy Hill.

Winnie spoke frequently and fondly of her job at Dolly Madison where she drove from town to town opening new stores and training new employees. One of her favorite past times was gambling at the casino her favorite game being Keno. She loved the fresh air; she enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved taking her dog Miley on walks. Another past time of hers was cheering on her beloved Dallas Cowboys. By the end of her long life, she made sure to make her way thru the entire Price-is-Right series. When she wasn’t catching a game or a game show, she enjoyed tuning into CNN always keeping up with the latest news.

She was known for her strong opinions and endearing dedication to her family, her infectious wit always kept us on our toes and laughing. Her funny comments will echo in our homes forever. Winnie lived a long life and loved her family every minute of it. She will be missed greatly, our hearts stay full of love, fond memories, and lots of joy and in that we celebrate her life.

Winnie is survived by her beloved family, sons; Buddy and Sherry Poole, Sonny and Laura Poole; Sister, Charlcie VanLiew, grandchildren, Christy and Jody Walser, Mellisa and Matt Wilcox; Amanda and Josh Tipton, great grandchildren, Savana Smith, Trenton Smith, Austin Cooper, Cayden Tipton, Hunter Tipton, Gunner Wilcox, Hazel Tipton, and Ryker Wilcox and her great-great-grandson Ryland Saylor.

A visitation for Winnie will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ellis Funeral Home, 4616 North Big Spring Street, Midland, TX. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with a committal service & burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery, 1620 N A St, Midland, TX.

Serving as pallbearers are Trenton Smith, Austin Cooper, Cayden Tipton and Hunter Tipton.
