Virginia Katherine Kingon, age 80, of Midland, Texas passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. Virginia was born on January 29, 1942, in Onawa, Iowa to Virginia (Esancy) Clark and Roderick Clark. At six weeks of age, they moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa where she lived until she was 12. At this point, her family moved to Sacramento, California, and lived there for two years. They then moved to El Paso, Texas where she remained until 1968 before moving on to San Diego, California.
While living in El Paso, Virginia graduated from Ysleta High School and started off work in business. She spent several years in the credit department at American Furniture Store. Following that she started work in banking, where she was employed at El Paso National Bank and later on at the State National Bank.
In December of 1967, Virginia met Tom Kingon while he was visiting El Paso, Texas. They married on June 1, 1968, at the US Navy Chapel in San Diego, California. During his navy career, they traveled the world, living in Yokohama, Japan, San Diego, California, Norfolk, Virginia, and Virginia Beach, Virginia. The Kingons moved to Midland, Texas in November of 1999 and found retirement life to be an ongoing experience. One of the great joys in her life included her passion in serving others. Virginia attended Asbury United Methodist Church in Odessa, Texas, where she sang in the choir and helped with the food pantry. Virginia lived in a retirement community and spent her time in volunteer work. Virginia enjoyed helping residents learn about computers and assisting the activity director at Helen Greathouse Manor.
