She was born on August 21, 1952, in Levelland, Texas, but was raised in Goldsmith, Texas.
The Norris family moved to Odessa, Texas where Shirley attended and graduated from Odessa High School in 1970.
Shirley married the love of her life Stephen Pendleton on June 4, 1994. They were a match made in Heaven, and were married for 21 happy years. Steve always loved to remind her that she would always be older than he was. As a couple, they loved to spend time with friends and family, travel, and play golf at many different courses all over the US.
After retiring from Minihan Oil & Gas, Shirley was free to enjoy playing golf, shopping, and traveling. Shirley also loved spending time in Big Bend. She was also a faithful member of First Methodist Church of Midland and looked forward to Wednesday night Bible Study, Sunday School, and services on Sundays.
Shirley's big claim to fame was the time she modeled for Calvin Klein at Julian Gold before Mr. Klein was famous. She also made legendary peanut butter Heath bar cookies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Warren Norris, Jackie Norris, and John Norris, husband Stephen Pendleton, and stepson, Russel Pendleton.
Shirley is survived by daughter Allison Rose of Midland, stepdaughters Stacy Sandel (Jason) of Farmington, NM, and Jennifer Torigoe (Gordon) of Carlsbad, CA, granddaughters Natalie Gomez (Juan) of Midland, Kathryn Richter of Midland, Stella Sandel of Farmington, NM, Kylee Edwards of Orange, CA, grandson Jasper Sandel of Farmington, NM, great-grandson Rylan Gomez of Midland, nieces Caroline Pendleton of Chicago, IL, Kathryn Pendleton (Austin Ouyang) of San Diego, CA, nephews Aaron Gibson (Geoff) of Austin, TX, Joshua Hudson (Leah) of Washington, DC, great nephew Ezra Hudson, also of Washington DC, precious puppies Archie and Eevee, and numerous friends who were like family to her.
A visitation for Shirley will be held Thursday, August 31, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ellis Resthaven Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 4616 N Big Spring Street, Midland, Texas 79705. A funeral service will occur Friday, September 1, 2023, at 11:30 AM at First United Methodist Church, 300 N Main St, Midland, Texas. Please feel free to wear pink in celebration of Shirley’s life. A burial will occur Friday, September 1, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4616 N Big Spring St, Midland, Texas 79705.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Lonestar Animal Sanctuary or Reflections Ministries.
