Ginger was married to William (Bob) Robert Ellwood on September 13, 1969. They were married for 45 glorious years, sharing countless adventures, and building a life rich with memories. Together, they raised two wonderful children: Mark and Andrea, who were the pride and joy of their lives. Their family grew with the addition of daughter-in-law, Michelle, and grandson Cooper, who held a special place in Ginger's heart.
Ginger was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and Oma (grandmother), always putting her family's needs above her own. Her home was a sanctuary filled with warmth, love, and the delightful aroma of her wonderful cooking and famous cheesecakes. Known for her kind heart and generous spirit, Ginger was always ready to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors, embodying the true essence of her faith and community.
In her professional life, Ginger ran a successful catering business in El Paso for 10 years and after Bob transferred to Midland, TX she was an Executive Assistant/Business Administrator in the oil and gas industry for over a decade. Even after retirement, she continued to volunteer at her church, First Methodist, as the Banner Committee Chair and served as a Stephens Minister, always driven by her desire to help others and bring Christ’s love and care to people during a time of need.
Ginger had a passion for gardening, spending countless hours tending to her vibrant flower beds. She found great joy in nature, as a Girl Scout leader and especially the family trips to their land in Timberon, NM. She also enjoyed and looked forward to spending time with The Lunch Bunch and friends from Girls Night Out.
Ginger's legacy is one of love, kindness, and resilience. She leaves behind a family who adored her, friends that cherished her, and a world made better by her presence. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Memorial services will be held Friday, August 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM at First Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Meals on Wheels, a cause close to Ginger's heart.
May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.
