Ronnie Harter, a cherished member of the Midland community, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and adventure. A graduate of Abilene High School and later McMurry University, where he majored in business, Ron was known for his passion and drive.
Ron spent many years contributing to the energy sector, starting with Texaco from 1966 to 1977, and continuing his career with MGF Drilling Corp. from 1977 to 1983, Odom Pipe and Supply from 1983 to 1986 and in 1987 with Energy Chemical and Company. He became majority equity owner in 1988.
He thrived in all types of sports and activities. Ron was an unbelievable athlete and excelled at performance skating and roller hockey. He had an unmatched love for life and shared countless memories and enjoyed the good company and time spent with his friends and family.
Ron was a muscle car enthusiast from a young age, with a special fondness for Corvettes. He was an award-winning BBQ and chili cookoff champion and embraced his culinary talents with pride. He had a joyous and infectious laugh that everyone enjoyed. Ron was also an active member of the Jaycee’s chapters in Andrews, Hobbs, and Midland.
He will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the way he always made those around him feel special. Ron often said, "This is your dear ol' dad, give me a call," a testament to his unwavering love for his family.
Ron is survived by his son, Kendall Harter, his wife, Kimberly; his daughter, Kendra Feagan, and her husband, Donny; and daughter, Alyshia Harter. He was the proud grandfather of Maddy, Hudson, and Lars who brought him immense joy.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents, W.R. Harter and Madeline Harter of Abilene, Texas. As well as his wife, Vicky Harter.
A proud member of his community and a true friend to many, Ron’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Ellis Funeral Home in Midland, Texas.
