He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Sam Houston State Teacher College as well as a Doctor of Philosophy- Secondary Education from North Texas University and a Master of Divinity at the Eden Theological Seminary in Missouri.
Employed by Midland ISD, Dr. Carter served as a classroom teacher and administrator. He taught Social Studies and, later, was coordinator in central administration for Social Studies. He was also a textbook author.
After serving many years with MISD, he retired and continued his desire to teach and serve others by enrolling in Theological Studies in Austin Seminary. He loved to travel and, to pursue such, he enjoyed visiting Mexico and friends throughout the United States. He will be missed as both a friend and a mentor.
Robert is survived by one sister and many nieces and nephews.
He will be missed by all.
There will be a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2016 at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel, 801 Andrews Hwy, in Midland followed by graveside services at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4616 North Big Spring, Midland, Texas.
