On Saturday, January 6, 2013 William Olin McMillan, 62, passed away peacefully at Midland Memorial Hospital. Olin always referred to himself as a true West Texan and was quite proud of it. He was born November 6, 1950 in San Angelo, TX to the parents of William H. and Jo McMillan.
The family made their home in San Angelo for several years before moving to Pecos, TX. While in Pecos, Olin, spent the rest of his childhood years, graduated from Pecos High School, and attended Sul Ross University in Alpine, TX. After attending Sul Ross University, he returned home to Pecos. For a short while Olin spent time in Dallas dealing with the sale of precious jewelry. Returning to Pecos, he joined the oil field for employment. While living and working in Pecos, Olin met and married Jacqueline Baker on March 27, 1975. They were married for 37 years and had one daughter, Jennifer Rae. The family moved from Pecos to Midland where he lived until his death. In Midland, Olin, worked for the Texas Railroad Commission, Gulf Oil Company, and Crude Control Services of which he was the sole owner and operator. In 2001 he joined the working staff of Endeavor Energy Resources. At last he had found the perfect home and was employed by them until his passing.
Olin enjoyed life in Midland. Through his work with MUGS , as a spectator, a coach, and Member of the Board, he had many close friendships in Midland. He never failed to complete any task that was asked of him. His good sense of humor, loyalty, love of people and his ability to leave a trail of friends where ever he was, made his short life here on earth memorable and fulfilling for him and for the people around him. He was often referred to as a Man with A Big Heart. Olin was also a Mason and member of Midland Lodge 623, AF & AM. When he was not working, at lodge or just sitting around, visiting and drinking coffee, he probably could be found at the closest fishing hole, or at least the one that had the most water. Olin’s life was never dull, he was full of energy and never failed to waste it.
Olin is preceded in death by his father, William H. McMillan of Pecos, TX
He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie; one daughter Jennifer Drummond and her husband Mike of Midland, two precious granddaughters, the total light of his eyes, Madigan Rae, and Macie Reed; his mother, Jo McMillan of Midland; his sister,
