Melba Merritt passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2013. She was born June 4, 1923 in Eskota, TX to Bascum Eli O’Neal and Rachel Bradberry O’Neal. Melba was a member of the Cotton Flat Baptist Church for many years. She loved her grandchildren dearly and enjoyed being with them. Melba also loved word find games and playing dominoes.
Melba is survived by her son Mike and his wife Jean; sisters, Betty Green, and Patsy Roulston; her son’s widow, Sherry Merritt; five grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by both parents; ex-husband Pat M. Merritt; son Jay Pat Merritt; and sister; Mickey Chamberlin.
The family will welcome friends to a visitation on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Ellis Funeral Home, Midland, TX from 6-8 pm.
