Maxine Treadwell LaBouff was born September 8, 1927, in Monrovia, California, to Wilbur and Hazel Treadwell. She died Saturday, May 4, 2013, in Midland, Texas. After graduating from Monrovia High School she continued her education at Pasadena Junior College, earning an Associate of Arts Degree. In 1950 she was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley. She married John Joseph LaBouff, Jr. on August 20, 1949. They moved from California to Midland, Texas in 1971.
Together, they raised seven children. When Maxine was not busy with her children’s activities she enjoyed playing golf and bridge, volunteering in numerous community organizations, and serving her church, St. Ann’s. Later in life, she worked in business offices at Midland Memorial Hospital. In most recent years, Maxine focused her time and talents working with the Midland County Library and Midland Need to Read, helping English language learners continue their education.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph LaBouff Jr., her sister, Clara May Lazarus, and her grandson, George Bernard Quinn, III.
She is survived by her children Sharon LaBouff, Patti LaBouff, Catherine Quinn, John LaBouff and wife Aileen, Jeanette McNeely and husband Doug, Brian LaBouff and wife Jennifer, and Diane Andrews and husband Richard. She is also survived by her grandchildren Christopher Mayer, Douglas Mayer and wife Jennifer, Breanna Conlon, Kevin Conlon, Emily Quinn, Allison LaBouff, Cassandra LaBouff, Katie Williams and husband Cameron, Krissy McIvor, Diana Vaughn and husband Trinity, Steven Loveless and wife Megan, Kelli McNeely, Ryan McNeely, Jason LaBouff and wife Rebekah, Ian LaBouff and wife Megan, Morgan Andrews, and Hayden Andrews. Maxine is survived by great-grandchildren Penelope, Malcolm, and Miranda Mayer, Dominic Conlon, Nathan Quinn, Elijah and Kaleb Williams, Grace Vaughn, Noah, Kendall and Posey LaBouff, Joshua Pierce, and Andrew LaBouff.
Maxine enjoyed and valued the relationships she built over the years with friends and family. She was known for keeping in touch and continued to send cards and notes until very recently when she became unable to do so.
Family and friends will celebrate her life Friday evening, May 24, 2013, at 6:00 when a rosary will be said at Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Highway, with visitation following. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 in the morning on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Illinois Avenue and M Street.
