Matthew Timothy Miller went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, while in Austin, Texas. Matt was born August 22, 1977 in Abilene, Texas. He and his parents moved to Midland in 1981. Matt graduated from Midland High School in 1996. While in high school, Matt was on the Midland Bulldog soccer team and played competitive soccer with Blast F.C. After graduation, Matt headed off to his favorite city on earth to attend the University of Texas at Austin. While attending UT, Matt was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Matt was passionate about his varied hobbies, such as collecting classic rock vinyl, the restoration of vintage audio equipment, assembling and trouble-shooting computers, radio wave propagation and DX’ing. He was also an avid gardener, specifically growing heirloom tomatoes from seed. Matt was interested in history – music history, world history and his family history. He had a wonderful sense of humor and will be remembered for his gift of bringing laughter to everyone with whom he was associated.
Matt was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James and Sammie Miller, his maternal grandfather, Harry Rowlinson and his uncle, Vance Miller.
He is survived by his parents, Tim and Ingrid Miller of Midland; his little sister, Shannon Miller of Dallas; his grandmother, Mrs. Inge Rowlinson of Plano, Texas; his uncle Nick Miller and his wife, Lisa, of Arlington, Texas and many cousins.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 26th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home and funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27th at First Christian Church.
