Mary Celeste Guillot Sandidge passed away at her home in Midland, Texas. Mary was born to Sidney and Leona Guillot in Algieres Parish, New Orleans, Louisiana. Mary spent her childhood in Minden, Louisiana where she attended Saint Vincent's Acadamey for Ladies, and worked at the bank of Minden. While working at the bank, she met William James Sandidge II, and they married on August 30, 1946. Mary and her husband James moved several times as James was a petroleum engineer. They lived in Eldorado, Arkansas, and in Texas they lived in Corpus Christi, Denver City, Lubbock, Brownfield, Houston, and Midland. Mary's most cherished days were in Brownfield, Texas, where she enjoyed the community and many wonderful friends. In Brownfield, she was a member of Saint Anthony's Catholic Church, President of Maid's and Matron's Study Club, volunteered with Girlstown, USA, and gave her focus to raising four children.
Mary and James traveled to Europe where they visited the Vatican. They also enjoyed travel to Mexico City, Hawaii, and numerous trips to New Mexico and Colorado. Lake City, Colorado was always a special family destination.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband James, her parents Sidney and Leona Guillot, and brothers Sidney and Gehlen Guillot., and daughter-in-law Gail Stanley Sandidge. Survivors include sons William James Sandidge III, and Sidney Paul Sandidge DDS; daughters Martha Florence Sandidge, and Sue Kirk and her husband David Kirk; two grandchildren, Kacy Ellis and her husband Scotty Ellis, Kelly Wohlfahrt and her husband Trace Wohlfahrt; and three great grandchildren, Felicity Ellis, Theodore Ellis, and Sterling Gail Wohlfahrth.
The family extends their gratitude for the wonderful care given by Doctors Richard Reese and Manish Demri and their staff, Comfort Keepers, Nurses Unlimited, and Hospice of Midland.
A graveside memorial will be held on November 18, 2014 at 1:00 PM, at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland.
