Mary Nell King Miles

Mary Nell Miles passed away on December 24, 2015 in Snyder, Texas. She was born on March 29, 1928 in Martin County, Courtney Community, to John and Ethel Lee King. Mary Nell was raised in Midland, attending Cowden Jr. High, and graduated from Midland High School.

Mary Nell married George F. Miles on August 4, 1947. They started out their married life in Odessa, Texas, and returned to live in Midland, Texas after George retired from Gulf Oil.

Mary Nell was the secretary for Cumberland Presbyterian Church for several years. She was a charter member of the Good Samaritan Care Center, in Hobbs, New Mexico. Mary was a faithful member of Crestview Baptist Church in Midland.

Mary Nell was preceded in death by her father, mother, step-father ( Lee May), and sisters: Mayjean King, and Sylvia Green.

Survivors are her sister, Sue Townzen of Abilene, Texas; Her Daughter and husband, Janis and Rick Canterbury of Justiceburg, Texas; Her sons: Mark F. Miles of San Francisco, CA., and Scott K. Miles ( and wife Jessica ) of Midland, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also blessed with many cherished friends throughout her life.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 7pm to 9pm, at Ellis Funeral Home in Midland. Graveside Services will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland, on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 1:00 PM.

In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation 4400 N. Big Spring St. #C32, Midland, TX. 79705.
