Mary Francis Mickle

Mary Francis Yoder Mickle passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013 in Midland. She was born on February 26, 1926 in Snyder, Scurry Co., TX to Dennis P. Yoder and Pearl Fay Bertran Yoder, the last of nine children. She graduated from Snyder High School on May 21, 1943. Mary married future physician Edwin Rogers Mickle on July 2, 1948 in the University Methodist Church in Austin, TX. She worked and helped put Ed through medical school with Ed graduating in 1952. Ed told Mary he married her for her money, but her beauty was an added benefit. Mary was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Midland, TX.

Mary is preceded in death by both her parents, Dennis Percival (aka D. P.) Yoder (1879-1942) and Pearl Fay Bertram Yoder (1885-1975); 4 brothers, Theodore Oron Yoder (1905-1998), Hal Dennis Yoder (1909-1998), Fred Allen Yoder (1912-2010), and Lyman James Yoder (1921-1987); 3 sisters, Margaret Catherine Yoder Clark (1907-1970), Ruth Marie Yoder von der Hoff Ackers (1914-2005), and Virginia Pearl Yoder Johnson (1918-2012); and one daughter Virginia Sue Mickle (1958-2011).

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Edwin Rogers Mickle, MD; sister, Genevieve Angela Yoder Pope and husband Rev. William “Bill” Pope of Maryville, TN; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held for Mary on Saturday October 19, 2013 at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel, Midland, TX at 10:00 am. On line condolences may be offered at www.ellisfunerals.com.
