Marvin was born the middle son of Irvin E. and Beulah B. (Shipman) Zoller in a farmhouse on the Guadalupe River, Guadalupe County, Texas, a few miles west of Belmont, Texas. He was raised mostly near Corsicana, Texas and in Van, Texas where he graduated from high school in 1942. After graduation, Marvin attended Texas Technological College for one year until he enlisted in the Army Air Force during World War II. He served in the Army for thirty months and one day, stateside. After the war ended and Marvin was discharged from the Army, he returned to Texas Tech where he completed his degree in petroleum geology. He worked for Union Oil Company of California for 30 years, mostly in Midland. After taking early retirement from Union Oil, Marvin worked for two independent oil operators in Midland. In 2006, he moved to Boerne to be near his daughter and her family.
Marvin is survived by his son Kenneth L. Zoller and wife Cindy of Midland, his daughter Tanya Zoller Kreuz and husband Jim of Boerne, and six grandchildren: Kenneth G. Zoller, Kristel Zoller, Katherine Zoller Brown and husband Michael, Kimberly Zoller, Jennifer Kreuz Sedtal and husband Marty, and Claire Kreuz. Two great-grandsons, Elliott and Harrison Sedtal also survive Marvin. His oldest son Bruce E. Zoller, his parents, and brothers George and Bobby preceded Marvin in death.
A memorial service will be held at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Midland, Texas on Wednesday, August 23 at 11 a.m. A private burial will precede the service.
