Martha was born on March 3, 1937, in Mount Pleasant, Texas, the youngest of several children. She met the love of her life, Douglass Adams while attending college in Abilene, Texas. The two were married in November 1956, sharing 63 years of love and life before his death in 2019. Aside from raising two daughters, a son, and a granddaughter, Martha lived a full, vibrant life. She was a proud employee of the Medical Center Pharmacy and later the Temp Service Career Path. A devout Christian, Martha
shared her faith with generations of children at the Golf Course Road Church of Christ as a 4th grade Sunday school teacher.
A joyful soul, Martha will be remembered by all those who knew her as a popcorn and thin mint fanatic, a lover of puzzles and books, and a feisty force of nature. Martha loved spending time with her two great-granddaughters Kloe and Kinzlee, the sunshine of her later years. Her sense of humor and laughter will
be sorely missed by all who loved her.
Martha is survived by one daughter Elizabeth Ruth Barn of Dallas, Texas; one son Richard Douglass Adams and wife Terri of Elkhart, Kansas; one grandson Richard Douglass Adams, Jr. and wife Leanna of Smyrna, Georgia; four granddaughters Shae Ann Nawoj and husband Andrew of Fort Worth, Texas; Carla Cai Bryant of Coahoma, Texas; Josephina Hackler of Arlington, Texas; Paula Pacheco of Watauga, Texas; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her dear husband Doug, her parents, beloved aunt, several sisters, a brother, her daughter Joni Suzeth Garner and grandson Patrick Henry Pacheco.
The family wishes to express gratitude to all the wonderful caregivers at Manor Park and the Maybee Center for their love and care of Martha. We especially hold dear Raquel, Maria, Rose, Olga, Holly, Relaya, Mary Elizabeth, Michael, Clark, Eli, Kayvin, Melissa, Liza, and Kent for all their care and attention
to “the Popcorn Lady” and all of her family during this difficult time.
