There on the mountains, as you get near the real high places, the air is fresh and invigorating. It strengthens the whole body and there are streams with wonderful healing properties, so that those who bathe in them find all their blemishes and disfigurements washed away". - Hannah Hurnard "Hinds Feet on High Places" The Lord God maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon mine High Places. - Psalm 18:33 and Habakkuk 3:19 Marian Elizabeth Huggins finds herself in the High Places with her Lord and Savior. Marian and her family walked the long journey of Alzheimer's together. Marian Elizabeth Huggins passed away in Jacksonville, Texas on Sunday, February 25, 2018. Marian was born on July 9, 1942 to Marion Ralph Haddox and Ruby Elizabeth Haddox in Garfield, New Mexico and was the second of five children. Her early years were spent in the Hatch Valley of New Mexico. She was a 1960 graduate of Yuma Union High School in Yuma, Arizona. Her mother and grandmother shared the gift of sewing and needlework with Marian as a child. During high school, Marian worked for the Singer Sewing Machine Company, giving sewing lessons to students, and for her service, she was awarded her first sewing machine. That sewing machine changed her life. She was a brilliant seamstress, who throughout her life, had a great love of fabric, lace, needles, and thread. Her father relied upon her good sense and her mother considered her to be her assistant and thus the nickname "Gabby," because she always had the last word. She met and fell in love with Jim Daugherty in Yuma, Arizona and they married on December 30, 1959. As a young Air Force wife, she made her home with two small children, James and Lisa, in several places including two foreign countries, but ultimately Midland, Texas became her home. Providence brought Marian to Midland in 1972. She settled in with her two young children and began her life in Midland. On September 5, 1976, Marian married Bob Huggins, and they began a journey spanning almost four decades together. With love and patience, they blended a family that was formed out of their union of 40 years. Marian and Bob were members of Midland Christian Fellowship, Cornerstone Fellowship, and First Baptist Church of Midland. During her years in Midland, Marian raised a family and worked as a Bookkeeper, but in her private time, she was a Bible teacher. She loved reaching out to women by hosting weekly Bible studies and prayer groups. Her love of the scriptures, combined with her love of fabric and needles, were displayed in the beautiful tapestry that she stitched into the lives of those she taught, counseled and prayed over. Marian is rejoicing with those who have gone before her into Heaven! Among many dear friends and loved ones, she has been reunited with her parents Ralph and Ruby, three sisters, Patty, Jane and Shirley, and her beloved husband, Bob Huggins. Marian is survived by her children, James Daugherty and wife Karen of Midland; and Lisa Zachry and husband Jimmy of Midland; and Shawn Axworthy and husband Bob, of Bullard and Darren Huggins and wife Paula Vachon of Copper Canyon. Marian is also survived by her brother Wayne Haddox of Camarillo, California. She was blessed with six grandchildren, Zachary Huggins, Molly Axworthy, Libby Axworthy, Derek Daugherty, Casey Zachry, and Robyn Zachry Wendel, and by seven great-grandchildren. The birth of her eighth great grandchild is expected in May of this year.
A gentle heart has stopped beating Loving hands that now lay still The Good Shepherd brought her home According to his will New heavenly eyes are open And oh the glory she must see Praise you Lord that in your presence She soars like an Eagle now set free Her long journey here on earth is through Oh the joy that she is now with you Her feet are set upon the high places And she's welcomed by familiar faces Reunited when we are all made new That bright morning covered in Heaven's dew Until that blessed reunion We will continue to seek your will And at the end to embrace Jesus God's love and grace fulfilled - Lisa Zachry
