Margie was born on October 6, 1934, in San Benito, Texas to Harry and Maxine Marquis. She had one brother, Gary Marquis. Her father was a civil servant so they moved a lot. She mostly grew up in Illinois and Arkansas. She graduated salutatorian in Taylor, Texas in 1952. They then moved to the Rio Grande Valley where she worked as a stenographer at Harlingen Air Force Base. That is where she met the love of her life, Leslie Roe. They married on December 31, 1953, and spent 55 wonderful years together. They had two children, Leslie Craig and Cynthia Rhea. They moved several times but finally settled in Odessa, Texas in 1968.
She held several jobs outside the home including bookkeeper and secretary with different companies in Odessa.
Family was everything to Margie, and she stayed very busy supporting her husband and kids in their endeavors. She always had one or more sewing and needlework projects going. When she wasn’t sewing or at one of her kids' events, you would probably find her reading a romance novel.
Margie and Leslie were always strongly involved in a local church and made sure their kids were grounded in God’s Word. Her life was a wonderful testimony to what she believed. Throughout the years, she taught Sunday School to all ages.
Margie enjoyed traveling to see family and also the beautiful sights all around the country. Spring wildflowers, Fall foliage, National Parks, and the back roads of Texas. She and Leslie managed to see 45 of the 50 states. They were in the process of mapping out a route to complete the list of 50 when Leslie became ill and was no longer able to drive.
Margie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her father, mother, brother, and husband. She is survived by her son, Craig, and wife Pam; daughter Cyndi Aycock and husband, Scott; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Roe (Sara Jane), Tyler Roe (fiance’ Sarah Edrington), and Rebecca Aycock.
