Lila Lee Roberson was born August 20, 1926 to Walter and Grace Claus. Lila went to be with her Lord on May 7, 2015. Lila was preceded in death by her parents, sister Evelyn Claus, sister Lola Pace and her husband, Jesse Roberson.
After meeting, Jesse, the love of her life, and knowing him for one week, they were married and remained married for 67 years. Lila and Jesse moved to Midland in 1953. They were instrumental in the startup of Crestview Baptist Church and helped in its growth and ministry. Lila held many positions in the church, but her favorite was teaching Sunday school.
Lila worked several jobs in Midland, including: Red Smith Tire Company, The Ortloff Corporation, The Texas Unemployment Commission and, finally, Mobil Oil Company, from which she retired. She loved all of her friends dearly from game day, the seniors’ XYZ group at Crestview and Mobil retirement club. She kept busy by knitting afghans for all of her family and friends. She crocheted numerous afghan blankets and children’s sweaters which she donated to various charities and international organizations.
Lila is survived by her brother, Roger and Carol Claus of Ferris, Texas; her children: Glenn of Jal, New Mexico; Elaine and Edwin Sullivan of Southaven, Mississippi; Mark and Carlene Roberson of Midland, Texas; Robert and Wendy Roberson of Midland, Texas; and Linda Roberson White of Southlake, Texas; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation is Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ellis Funeral Home. The service will be held at Crestview Baptist Church, Wednesday May 13, 2015, at 11:00 AM with Dr. John Gerlach officiating, followed by a family graveside burial at Resthaven Memorial Park.
